December 2nd and the festive spirit was in full swing over at Barmbyfield Barns in Pocklington, Yorkshire, as SouthWestBand brought the house down for the annual Pocklington Schools party. With snowflakes falling around us outside, our power trio set the stage for a night to remember.
After a smooth setup and a quick soundcheck, guests flooded into the main room for welcome drinks, speeches, and a lively game of heads or tails for a cash prize. Once Pastelle Kitchen & Events served up the Christmas feast, we cranked up the tunes and hit the stage.
Midway through dinner, we discovered Kevin, a guest who happened to be a singer in his own function band. Naturally, we couldn't resist inviting him onstage for song or two.
The energy soared as Kevin joined us for the 80s classic 'Don’t You Want Me' by Human League, turning it into a riotous singalong. Encouraged by the crowd's enthusiasm, we kept Kevin on stage for another 80s anthem, 'A Little Respect,' which was a hit yet again.
As the night unfolded, the dance floor heated up with classics like 'Proud Mary,' 'Summer of 69,' a dash of Christmas cheer courtesy of Slade and Wizzard and more 80s bangers. The guests even kicked off a festive conga line, weaving its way around the room! Ending on a high note with 'Mr Brightside,' the crowd demanded an encore, and after a unanimous decision, we belted out Oasis's 'Don’t Look Back in Anger' as the final song.
The celebration continued as we DJed into the night, with Mariah, The Pogues, and a special request for 'Never Forget' to cap off a fantastic evening.
With fresh snow crunching under our heels, we loaded up the van and headed home, wrapping up a top night at Barmbyfield Barns.
Thanks for stopping by. See you in the next one, or on the dance floor! 💃🕺
