We were stoked to receive an request from Amazon for SouthWestBand to provide entertainment for their massive event the 'Post Peak Party 2023' at Doncaster Racecourse. It was the Amazon equivalent of a Christmas party with over 1500 guests attending! It would be one of the biggest audiences we have ever played!
Arriving at mid day with two large vans absolutely packed with speakers, guitars, amps, leads, lights, drums and mixers we had our work cut out. It took a lot of elbow grease due to the sheer size of the event, but we were able to get everything set up and ready to go in time for the mega party.
As soon as the guests started pouring in, it was clear that this was going to be one heck of a night. Everyone was already in a great mood, and they were more than ready to get their groove on.
We started off by warming up the crowd with our SouthWestBand DJ set, and as we looked out onto the dancefloor, we couldn't help but notice some seriously funky characters. There were two women strutting their stuff on stilts, two gents decked out head to toe in sparkly gold suits and top hats dancing like robots from 1984 , and even one dude rocking an LED fishbowl helmet!
But as soon as SouthWestBand to the stage, the crowd went wild. We hit them with back-to-back bangers and brought our A game, and they gave us their all in return. It was an unforgettable night, and we couldn't have asked for a better crowd to rock out with.
As the final notes of "Don't Look Back in Anger" rang out, we knew that we had just experienced something truly special. It was an absolute blast, and we hope that this marks the beginning of a long and fruitful partnership with one of the biggest brands in the world: Amazon!
