Easter Treat at Bunny Hill Weddings: Catherine & Alex's Special Day with SouthWestBand

Updated: May 2, 2023

Hey peeps! We're back with another wedding story, and this one was a real Easter treat! On Easter Saturday, we had the pleasure of performing at the always beautiful (and aptly named for this particular weekend) 'Bunny Hill Weddings' for Catherine and Alex's big day. It was a lovely warm day and the first glimpse of summer to come, a perfect day for what would be a fantastic wedding!

After a quick set up and soundcheck it was time for the couple's first dance, Baby I’m Yours by the Arctic Monkeys. A great choice and one of our most requested currently. We played our live version to the newlyweds and their guests, Catherine and Alex danced away while their guests whooped and cheered for them booth, we knew then it was going to be a great night!

One many highlights of the evening was when the father of the bride, Brian was coaxed onstage and got up on the drums with us. Brian is no stranger to performing having been in function bands himself, and he really showed off his skills. We busted out our rendition of 'Brown Sugar' by the Rolling Stones together and all the guests went crazy for it. Bryan crushed it!

We heard that Catherine was a huge Taylor Swift fan, so mid second set we smashed out an impromptu version of her song 'Love Story'. To make it even more special, the bride and her friend dubbed 'Dryness' whipped out matching bagpipes and jammed along on the dancefloor! It was beautiful, hilarious and bizarre in equal measures and a moment that those guests, or we wont forget in a hurry!

The night had a Disney theme running through it, with song requests like 'Were all in this together' from High School Musical and 'Miracles Happen' The Princess Diaries. The photobooth by 'East Yorkshire Booths' also had some seriously good Disney themed props for the occasion, and everyone had a blast posing for pictures, including us!

As always, we had to be on our A-game to match the energy the guests brought and make sure that the happy couple and their guests had a blast all night long. We finished our live set on some singalong classics like Don’t Look Back in Anger and Mr Brightside, and then kept the dancefloor pumping until midnight with our SouthWestBand DJ package.

All in all it was a fantastic wedding. A stunning venue, all the guests were on fine form. Catherine and Alex were lovely and friendly, we couldn't have asked for a better start to the Easter holidays.

We're looking forward to more weddings this summer and can't wait to make more memories with all of our wonderful couples. Thanks for tuning in, and we'll see you soon!

Shoutout to the photographer Ginger Snaps for capturing some awesome shots! 📸🔥
